This '99 4Runner Limited with optional locking rear differential will be mine in a few short hours. I've been !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! by phone over the past couple days. I didn't make much progress yesterday because the sales manager was off, but I got it done today.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I'm working until 6:45-7ish central time, then it's time to pop over to the dealer, do the paperwork, and hand over the keys to my Grand Cherokee. It's served me well, but I'm looking forward to something that's (hopefully) less of a money pit.
Final numbers were $3k trade value for my Jeep and $7k for the 4Runner. Which is honestly a bit more than I was hoping to pay for the 4Runner, but hey, they were !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , it's a '99 Limited (the '99-'00 4Runner Limited has arguably !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) with the rear locker, no rust, a documented timing belt/water pump service, and brand spankin new Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S all-terrain tires.
Should be pretty kickass for Wisconsin winter.

This is all of the overlanding I did with the Jeep.

You test drove it right?
I was in love with that model 4 runner. Paricularly this color.
After 3 yrs or so I finally had enough money to buy a used one. When I went to test drive it i was so disappointed by the driving position and feel. I had a XJ Cherokee at the time. The 4 Runner felt like a car on a frame with how low the seats were to the floor and the foot well was cramped too. Not trying to rain on your parade though.

Haha, The snow bank wasn't expecting that!

so you are essentially paying 4K out of pocket for it right? 7K - 3K for the Jeep. Not a bad deal if you ask me. That's a pretty sweet looking Toyota.

My old shitty 2nd gen 4Runner was unstoppable with Yokohama Geolanders, great tires there. $7k is high, but expected from a dealer, new belt and pump is nice, keep oil and antifreeze in it and it will never die. Also, the 3.4L have a bit of pep too.
My brother has one of those, 240k or so, runs like a champ, and it's not treated nicely either.

I did test drive it. It's definitely not as comfy as my WJ was.
The driving position isn't as good as unibody Jeeps, because, well, it's a body-on-frame truck. The packaging can't be as efficient.
The 4th gen 4Runner has a waaaaaaaayyyyyy worse driving position than the 3rd gen. Before I got my WJ, I tried out a 4th gen 4Runner and thought it was terrible. The seats are even more on the floor, but the cowl is super high. It's just not good at all.
But, hey, this will be even better in winter with those all-terrain tires and rear locker, and probably not break nearly as much as the Jeep.

I actually had a bit of a loan I took out for the Jeep, by virtue of getting silly low rates on old used cars from my credit union. So the trade is paying off the Jeep, I'm paying the taxes, fees etc out of pocket, and I'm getting a new 3.24% loan for the 4Runner.

If it's any comfort, I have to put up with an asshole next door neighbor who runs a dj company out of the basement of his rented townhouse and takes up too much parking .

Oh yeah if the timing belt was done you should be good for another 60-90k trouble free miles.

I still think you suck for having such awesome cars.
However, no one should have to deal with idiots like that. Dude needs to buy a fucking house to park all his shit at.
Townhouses and Condos are for people who don't have enough stuff to fill a house.
